Recipe: The Homegrown Tomato Sandwich


Summary: Southern Food Fare The Tomato Sandwich

Ingredients

  • Red Tomato RIPE and JUICY (larger is better)
  • Two FRESH WHITE bread slices (FRESH!)
  • Fresh Ground Black Pepper
  • Fine Ground Sea Salt
  • Good Quality Mayonnaise OR Homemade Mayo
  • Lettuce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Slice tomato.
  2. SLATHER (thickly and lavishly) each bread slice with mayo.
  3. Lightly salt each SLATHERED slice.
  4. Heavily (to my taste) pepper each SLATHERED slice.
  5. Place tomato slice (or slices if you did not have a large tomato) on one bread slice.
  6. Salt and pepper the tomato.
  7. I use LOTS of pepper. You do not have to.
  8. Add lettuce if desired. Most times I do not.
  9. Put the sandwich together.
  10. Smush it together a little bit.
  11. Did some mayonnaise squish out the sides?
  12. I hope so, that means you did it right.
  13. Enjoy!
